PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
