Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
